Atheist Comedy
6 January 2010 by StardustThe Great Flood (Christian Flood Myth)
Thanks to The Atheist Jew for this one. OMG, too funny because it’s now in a place where all my Bible literalist friends and relatives can watch it, if their retinas aren’t burned out by the word “atheist” in the title first. Beaj came along and interjected this little gem below in a comment thread under a news article I posted about Hubble capturing the earliest image yet of the universe — just 600 million years after the Big Bang.
LOL! My bet is that they don’t get through five seconds of it before they turn it off and start praying for us. Too funny. But the sad part is that this little cartoon presentation brings up some very good questions to consider before taking the flood myth literally. But sadly, most fundies choose to remain willfully ignorant.

I can hear the crickets chirping and pins dropping.

piuvodku, I checked the queue and there is nothing in there. Don’t know what happened to it. WordPress is being fucking weird again.
Where is everybody????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The animals would neither freeze nor suffocate. By making sea level 30k feet then that would have virtually the same temperature and atmosphere as sea level today.
Shoody thinking. The other arguments are true though.

Keddaw, I read the same criticisms on another site, that the video did throw out a lot of faulty arguments and assumptions.
There are plenty of valid arguments, many of which I addressed on my own blog when I first started it several years ago, that pretty much demolish the Biblical Literalist interpretation of the story.

Considering that it’s after a major holiday season; and the weather being so crappy in so many places, that may be contributing to the extreme “quietude” here on GifS.
Then again…who knows?
Maybe we’re all getting a bit “burned out”.
Funny video.
To my thinking; when you whittle down…to the absolute nitty-gritty…the basic creation stories from the Bible/Koran; or, for that matter, ANY tribal mythology, they’re all rather stupid and often, simultaneously, very vicious notions.
On the other hand…evidence and fact based Evolution, contains no agenda, personal or otherwise; thus no blame is, or ever need be, involved.
If I, for a delusional moment, imagine myself as, let’s say, the terribly tyrannical Abrahamic version of a god…supposedly Infinite, Privileged beyond comprehension (a kind of, always existing, totally spoiled brat; Infinitely selfish & untested?), All Knowing, All Powerful, All…erm…Loving(?)…and, of course, TERRIBLY lonely?…yada yada.
WHY…after an assumed infinite amount of “non-Time”?, would I suddenly decide to make absolutely primitive, and totally ignorant (thus, destined to be totally stupid?) humans and all the silly (and rather vicious) animals, plants, microbes, etc…put them all on a eensy-weensy little utterly primitive speck in one rather average Solar system and Galaxy; in what we now know from Science (no thanks to any “Lawd”, of course!) is a humongous, ever expanding, rather choatic and dangerous void…zama, zama.
(take imaginary mental breath here?)
How outrageous, and unnecessarily cruel, etc. And, lest I forget, PREVIOUSLY…supposedly…having created some suck-hole “angel” slaves, some of whom became “fallen” and were condemned to an “Eternal Hell”, ALLOWS a favorite fucktard and some minions “out of jail”; and sigs them on the poor, stupid humans.
I’ll leave the rest of the lame scenario for youse guys to fill in the other familiar bullshit…?
[My brain is beginning to "hurt" (Python style?) just thinking of all that shit.]
Bottom-line…it’s just plain, outrageously stupid, totally made up, and borrowed, crap; by a bunch of ancient, more than likely, desert brain fried, whacko jerkoffs, who wanted to be on top of the heap of the rest of the mass of bozos roaming around in ignorance and stupidity. Yeah…myriad variations of the arch-typical “top-dog Chief” usually holding hands (and getting very stoned?) with the favored 2nd rank (drug expert) tribal shaman (or “High” Priest). Usually, raping, and sacrificing, at will, all the lovely local virgins they could grab a hold of…etc.
Of course, I COULD be wrong in my over-simplification of typical human…erm…conduct…?
What!…ME…cynical?
Why COITENLY!…and considering all the shit going on EVERY fucking day in the now…
why not?

I guess everyone in that video are wearing floods.
(GROAN!)

That video was almost as bloody as their holy-friggin book. Well, not really.
Was god on acid?
I wanted to let you know that 22nd media ran a top headlines of 2009. Guess what story was 6th?
“6. “Man in the trespassing of space – Pastor’s Column by Pastor Meyer” – Sept. 25, 2009
A pastor column which ran in September presented much chatter on the comment board from those who disagreed with Pastor Meyer’s viewpoint. The hits to the column grew as it was linked on various other Web sites and blogs.” @ http://www.mokenamessenger.com/Articles-c-2010-01-06-203277.112113_Top_WebHeadlines_of_2009.html
The editorial that was printed a week later @ http://www.mokenamessenger.com/Articles-c-2009-10-09-200616.112113_Letter_to_the_Editor.html
The 2009 headline description appeared in print and on the online version with no hint of negativity towards reason. I think some of the comments that were left on the Mokena Messenger site originated from participants of this site.
The guy keeps writing weekly posts, but I ignore them as his viewing numbers are very low when I don’t comment. I will speak out again though if he writes anything that is detrimental to the community beyond his regular quack voodoo preaching.
By the way, it seems Mondo has finally shut up!

” The history of our race, and each individual’s experience, are sown thick with evidence that a truth is not hard to kill and that a lie told well is immortal.” (Mark Twain) You can’t say it any better than that!

Christopher, you have to be shittin’ me! I don’t even open that paper anymore. It gets my blood pressure up. They have never responded to me about my idea for a secular corner in their paper. Not even a “no thank you.”
I’ve found too that when an atheist doesn’t comment, no one else does either. So let them nod their a–mens in mythology temple on Sundays and whenever they go. But I was finding it quite irritating to read that crap anymore. I need to get them to stop emailing me updates now.

The editor of the Messenger is more open to our ideas then your paper’s editor for whatever reason. They would not budge on the sharing of space throughout the 22nd media for a freethought, humanist column. They insisted they wanted to stay true to their hyper-local mission, though the papers share stories all the time.
I still read them just to see what is being said. Some of the other stories are of interest. My wife shares your opinion and does not read the papers because of three front page religious stories in a row.

Christopher, I can’t bring myself to read anything in the Patriot anymore. It’s like a church newsletter. And they are trying to get people to actually pay for this rag? Not in a million years. When they come in the mail I glance at the covers and noticed that our edition also has had frequent religious front-page stories. I guess that the god botherers who make up the majority of people in our communities are mighty pleased. I will stick to getting my news online and am not even looking at Pastor’s Corner anymore even for material to post. It’s just too irritating.
And I think that the reason they gave you about wanting to “stay true to their hyper-local mission” is baloney on their part. My bet is that they are just giving you a blow off answer. I notice the paper is getting thinner. Maybe it will disappear altogether. (If we are lucky!)
