My grandfather and mother are both still believers but the three of us have made it vehemently clear we want nothing to do with it. Now we aren't badgered into midnight mass or anything. Ah, life is good...praise be to the FSM :) I can’t really complain…my father is non-superstitious (as he likes to put it) so when my fiance and I visit we always have an empathetic ear. I've been hearing/reading all those excuses/insults for so long. Nice to have them all in one spot, I suppose. I'll print out a copy and play Atheist Bingo all year long...to tell you the truth, doesn't sound like fun. :( @Fritzy - I'm from Fresno County, I feel for you. But remember, you are not alone. :) Happy Holidays! People are so unoriginal. I’ve been hearing/reading all those excuses/insults for so long. Nice to have them all in one spot, I suppose. Maybe we can give it a whirl around Easter, since I was too late to discover it for Christmas this year. I bet someone could make one for believers in evolution, as well. Yep, I still say it--xmas holds no more religious significance for me than St Patty's day. But I love both holidays for what they represent to me--in the case of xmas; family, generosity, and hope for the next year. In the case of St Patty's day; drinking till you can't feel stuff. I'm lucky because all the family that knows of my atheism is aware of the consideration I've put into coming to this place in my life and is tolerant and respectful of my desires to not be prostelitized towards. The others do not need to know of my (lack of) delusional belief. My condolences to Stardust and anyone else who is not as fortunate as I in this respect. As far as others I have to encounter on a regular basis--I am not so lucky, particularly being a transplant from the Midwest now living in the central valley of CA (otherwise known as Calitucky). I have been able to score a "Bingo" several times in my 15+ years as a doubter. Great post! Merry Christmas everyone. Happy Festivus, Solstice, (Whateva?)...to all! That's quite a nice 'godbotherer BS' summary, I'd say, for making a list (and checking it twice?)... with appropriate, individually researched atheist responses; including links to any relevant documentation, etc. Hmmm...another little project for 2010? “Foist”…
