Afghanistan’s President, Hamid Karzai, has signed a law which “legalises” rape, women’s groups and the United Nations warn. Critics claim the president helped rush the bill through parliament in a bid to appease Islamic fundamentalists ahead of elections in August. In a massive blow for women’s rights, the new Shia Family Law negates the need for sexual consent between married couples, tacitly approves child marriage and restricts a woman’s right to leave the home, according to UN papers seen by The Independent. [...] The most controversial parts of the law deal explicitly with sexual relations. Article 132 requires women to obey their husband’s sexual demands and stipulates that a man can expect to have sex with his wife at least “once every four nights” when travelling, unless they are ill. The law also gives men preferential inheritance rights, easier access to divorce, and priority in court. A report by the United Nations Development Fund for Women, Unifem, warned: “Article 132 legalises the rape of a wife by her husband”.

Absolutely. How can they justify a law that would punish blasphemy? And then essentially blaspheme that very religion? Unbelievable. Apparently it isn’t rape when it is a reqirement of the marriage vows and laws. We all know differently. Islam is ignorance. Religion poisons everything.

Well I’m not going to become a Muslim on that account, but, hey, maybe I will for a promised reward of 70 wives, 800 slaves and a tent half the size of Saudi Arabia – oh, but that’s in Paradise, and only after I butcher as many kafirs as possible in a suicide-bombing, drat!
As for this remark: Ah yes, because we all know that having a dick and scrotum automatically puts one in God’s favor… it always makes me laugh when Muslims tell me that men and women are equal in “Allah’s” eyes – which doesn’t explain how that illiterate paedophile Muhammad remembered it all incorrectly by giving unequal rights to men when he was reciting the so-called ‘inerrant words of God’ which were subsequently enscribed by his more literate countrymen as the Qur’an.

This gives some background to this story.
In December 1993, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights published the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women [2]. This establishes marital rape as a human rights violation. This is not fully recognized by all UN member states. … In 2006, the UN Secretary General found “Marital rape may be prosecuted in at least 104 States. Of these, 32 have made marital rape a specific criminal offence, while the remaining 74 [sic] do not exempt marital rape from general rape provisions. Four States criminalize marital rape only when the spouses are judicially separated.”[3]
Many United States rape statutes used to preclude spousal prosecution, including estranged or even legally separated couple…. as of 1999, 33 of 50 U.S. states regard spousal rape as a lesser crime [Bergen, 1999]. The perpetrator may be charged with related crimes such as assault, battery, or spousal abuse. It is also known that even if a spouse has an illness causing an inability to sexually respond, the other spouse may engage him or her in conjugal relations without criminal liability. There are other criminal charges that may be inapplicable to married couples. For example, in the U.S., marriage precludes a charge of statutory rape even if one of the spouses is under the age of consent in the jurisdiction where the sexual act takes place. What really frightens me about so much of this lunacy is that I’m having an increasingly difficult time to come up with a punchline because the punchline is built into the story. In this case the muslim loonies are on a roll. They want to legalize rape and make it illegal for anyone to ‘defame their faith’. You gotta admit that these nutcases are really trying to cover all their bases.

There was a landmark case (RvR 1992) in the UK which went all the way to our House of Lords (the highest court in the land) . The HoL judgment upheld that of lower courts, in that is set-aside the 276 old law that a husband could not rape his wife as she “was deemed to have consented irrevocably to sexual intercourse with her husband”. He was charged with attempted rape, found guilty, and sent down for 3 years, as our courts had all finally recognised that it is not appropriate to treat a woman as subservient to a man, even if that man was her husband, which is very much what the law had been until very recent times.
I suggest that any country which considers itself be be a champion of equality would also hold that rape was possible within a marriage and that any laws which were extant which said otherwise were antediluvian and in need of scrapping. Women should not be treated as somehow worthy of fewer rights than men and any man who declares otherwise should be forcibly castrated with a blunt object.

If ’stipulates’ is mandatory, does that apply in Paradise too? If so, there’s going to be some very exhausted Muslim men hanging around there, for apparently 72 virgins will be the smallest number of virgins allotted to these faithful men who have served Allah according to Hadith 2687 of the collection of the sayings of Muhammad gathered by Al-Tirmidhi (died 892 CE) . The same hadith is also quoted by Ibn Kathir (died 1373 CE ) in his Tafsir (Qur’anic commentary) :
“The Prophet Muhammad was heard saying: ‘The smallest reward for the people of paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine, and ruby, as wide as the distance from Al-Jabiyyah [a Damascus suburb] to Sana’a [Yemen]‘.”
These two places were, respectively, a suburb of Damascus and Yemen, and they lie approximately 1,500 miles apart, which suggests that either Paradise is a very big place, or else that there are few inhabitants there, especially when one recollects that a dome of a width of 1,500 miles is merely “the smallest reward” for those who attain entrance to this imaginary place.
But to return to the plight of these poor submissive men, what sort of reward is it to have to have sex at least 6570 times per annum (that equates to 127 times per week or 18 times each and every night of the year) for those lucky subservients to Allah’s will who have only 72 wives to service? And just think of the really deserving, like the ones who killed over 3000 kafirs in the Twin Towers atrocity; real heroes of Islam like them will have much more than the smallest reward of 72 wives. Oh, it almost makes one feel sorry for them, the murderous swine that they were.
Which reminds me, why do you think that there is no mention of the rewards in Paradise for women?

(PS: For those who still have not worked it out, the answer is that whilst men and women are both required to be subservient to Allah, women are also required to be subservient to men; it’s Allah’s” will, after all, for the Qur’an tells us so and that is, as you already know, the inerrant word of ‘God’ as dictated to and by Muhammad, that infamous delusional paedophile.)

^ Addendum: I meant to add that at least these guys won’t have any problems with erectile dysfunction for they are all promised that they will have a “rock-hard erection” according to the Qur’anic commentator Al-Suyuti (died 1505 ), who went on to write:
“Each time we sleep with a houri we find her virgin. Besides, the penis of the Elected [to Paradise] never softens. The erection is eternal; the sensation that you feel each time you make love is utterly delicious and out of this world and were you to experience it in this world you would faint. Each chosen one [ie Muslim] will marry seventy [note the discrepancy in numbers] houris, besides the women he married on earth, and all will have appetising vaginas.”

Put your reading glasses on, ‘cos obviously you didn’t read the wise (and truthful, guffaw) words of Al-Suyuti:
“Each time we sleep with a houri we find her virgin.”
That means the hymen is magically reinstated after penetration by the ‘rod of iron’ that all true (male) believers are graced with in Paradise.
Perhaps this magical secret explains that other impostor’s birth, Jeebus; Mary was magically turned back into a virgin after ‘God’ shagged her with his ‘rod of iron’.

How can muslims justify this, o wait they dont have to, they can just do whatever they want and say its for their religion and then they have the balls to say that everyone else is crazy and immoral, im not suprised by this law and it only reaffirms my belief that either muslims or the ideas of muslims must be extermenated

steve545, while we may wish to eliminate fundamentalist Muslim ideas, we here at GifS cannot condone the idea that ” muslims must be exterminated” In a free society a Muslim has a right to his or her religious beliefs and to practice their religion. However, we do agree that Muslims or any other religious god botherers do not have the right to force their beliefs into the secular government of a free nation, nor onto the citizens in the society in which they live. Also, they must be expected to abide by the laws of the land in which they live, and cannot use their religion as justification to break established laws and interfere with the human rights of others, even their own fellow believers.
