Then, in part two, explains why science is irrelevant to Astrology, because it is untestable under the rigors of the scientific method (which is true--unfortunately for her that is the strength of the scientific approach, and the weakness of her mythology.) Which is it? Which brand of sour grapes is she complaining about? Don't expect logic from someone who makes mythology such a huge part of their being, I guess. BTW, in the really bad analogy dept--Music has THEORY, we can study sound waves, do social experiments on different kinds of music, study the MRIs of people's brains listening to music, etc, etc. Wait a minute–

I actually used to be a 'true believer'. I recall giving a presentation in HS, as it was 1 of my occultic hobbies. I stood in front of the class, blathering away about it, when someone raised their hand. This guy asked, 'why not rocks?' I blinked, baffled. 'What?' "Well, you said that these far away planets have some sort of influence on us, why not rocks? Why not balls, or balloons?' (I'm paraphrasing @ this point). I don't recall my exact answer, but I fum-fahed & fumbled - I hadn't expected anyone to confront me on the subject. Years later, the only exact detail I remember is that question: "Why not rocks?" Stardust – thanks for that snippet from Skeptico.

Astrology believers – unsinkable rubber ducks

Of all the woo beliefs, astrology seems the most persistent, the most resistant to evidence, and the most frustrating to debate with believers. I am reminded of Randi’s unsinkable rubber ducks – no amount of contrary evidence will ever un-convince the true believer in astrology. If I took over ownership of a newspaper, jettisoning the daily astrology forecast would be one of the first things I'd do.
