Atheists in Foxholes
9 January 2009 by BobI guess there’s some clip from the HBO series Generation Kill that’s pretty refreshing — and I’m sure just slightly more accurate about the feelings of non-believers in the military.
For those who might be interested, check out the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers site.

Great clip, Bob!
Check out the comments my husband, a former US Marine, sent to the Obama change team under the FYI post.

After reading the letter of recommendations sent by the Secular Coalition of Americans with the MAAF to Obama’s transition team back in November, it is clear that the only CHANGE Americans are likely to see will be the nickels and dimes you’ll be saving to buy toilet paper when you’re on green stamps. Obama’s selection of someone like Rick Warren to say prayer at the Inauguration shows contempt for the members of the military that have sworn to protect his ass and a lack of any real comprehension of the Constitution he will be swearing to uphold.

I just did, and please give that Big Bulldog our best wishes from GIFS. (Translation: “ROWF!”)
I guess my only problem with the clip is that it seems to portray xian soldiers as some kind of “persecuted minority” — which is just completely false. I mean, the passive reaction from xians when confronted with the skepticism just kinda distracts me a little when I watch it.

Bob, my old Leatherneck says, “Thanks.”
You’re right about that passive reaction being far from representative of the usual reaction from xians when confronting skepticism.
I’m all too familiar with the reaction of Gord-fearing sheeple who cannot comprehend my lack of willingness to accept their view of things. Actually the thought of standing in front of one of them with a loaded weapon in their hands is a little scary. Got to give those MAAF members credit for having larger than usual balls (that includes the female troops).

I tend to agree with this because the Xian walks away quietly after his invitation is rejected. In real life, as Bob points out, god bothering officers in the military usually don’t take kindly to being rejected and told to fuck off. Otherwise, it’s a great clip. And I am glad that we are seeing more and more of this openness from non-believers and people of other beliefs to speak out against Xianinsanity.

I was in the military back in the late 80’s and that was the way most reacted to clergy or the few hardcore bible thumpers. I don’t remember them ever being that passive. I once was on duty with one of those bible thumpers and several times I had to tell him to shut up and I didn’t want to hear his crap. I never got put on that duty again wonder why? lol

When I did my time in the RAAF we never ever ever had any religious shit at all, I cannot remember a single person in my unit who was in any way religious, if an officer was to have asked us to attend a service I’m sure we would have all stood there mouth hanging loosely open, eyes glazed and said something like” What the”, it just was never heard of, the part where the dude says to the Xian Tard about upholding his religious shit is the real issue, good men go off to get killed because sky daddy arse wipes sitting back at home eating lobster and drinking wine want servicemen and women to die for their cause in the name of freedom, how can worshipping an entity in the sky that will fuck you up because you don’t do what it says be called being FREE, that sort of logic is despicable, those fat lazy fucks should do their own dirty work, let them fight the Muslim scum, it’s their ideological battle NOT OURS, the fuckin terrorist are just reactions to the ideological capitalist bourgeois theocrats, they created the problem let those idiots fix it, problem is they left it way to late and now the shit has hit the fan and we”re all covered in it………………..

My father was a highly decorated soldier in WWII. He spent much of his life scoffing at the old saying about no athiests in foxholes. He was one of many.

I love this clip.
“Not only do we have to worry about all the charms you’ve eaten But Brads just pissed off God.”sarc.
It has occured to me from time to time that if you end up in a foxhole then
god must have been off duty. And is it my imagination or not? But does it seem like there are more religious extremeists and more wars in the world? Hmmmm Coincidence? NOT.

Thank that Marine of yours for his service and his excellent words.

I have a good friend Al that was a sergeant in the Korean war. Al was on the front lines there and he told me that he saw lots of our guys die on the battlefield. He said that they rarely cried for their god. Instead they repeatedly called for their mothers.

Hey here in OZ in our saturday paper theres an article about Xians now taking the bus campaign in the UK to court as they say it’s offensive, true, I swear I’m not making it up, people can be sent off to fight Xian wars and die in the most hideous ways but a sign on a bus is offensive, well that”s just about the craziest shit ever, over 40 complaints have been lodged in a country of around 80 odd million people, and it’s going before a panel, 40 people 40 fuctards find it offensive, for the love of imaginary god what the hell are those freaks smoking, and Stardust I’m not sure but theres a guy called Chris in the UCTAA site now calling himself Pastor Chris, no shit I reckon it could be our Chris who we love and respect Wink wink, that or people called chris are possessed and behave stereotypically LOL, he comes from the liable belt in baptist country whatever that is ???

Here in Australia as we have just found out tonight the Labor government has banned advertising by Atheists and stopped the bus program here from going ahead, as I mentioned we have a Xian Fuctard called Kevin Rudd KRUDD as our pm, we never thought this day would come but it has, our country has been hi jacked by the right and we are no longer a democratic nation, we have become a state of the USA, PLEASE write to the Australian Labor Party and express your outrage that we as atheists are being discriminated against, your voices count for way more than ours as our government is now controlled by Xians who LOVE America, please help us we beg of you……………………………..Hoffy and Tricia
