And Now for a Public Service Announcement47844929_2d06e79f2d_m

I have become aware of a very important site for all of us to visit and weigh in on what is imporatant to each of us.This particular request of mine to each of you is to vote for my favorite Idea of Change. I would like to see it at the top in #1 postion in a week or so. We only need about 30 more votes to put it at #1. The site is Ideas for Change in America at change.org … The vote is for “Create nationally required science standards” currently at position #3.

Please, if you can tell your freinds and pass it on lets get this to go viral by January. We can make a difference. Lets NOT pass up this opportunity. Look at some of the other drivel that people want???? The mind boggles.

Also as a warning, the site is a bit hard to navigate and may take some time for you to explore each of the other ideas. I suggest you do so and see what else is available for you to weigh in on. Apparently the Obama team is checking this and using it as a way of governance. Maybe???

Good Luck Have fun and vote for reason often.

The Christian persecution complex

12 December 2008 by Stardust

In my opinion the Christian persecution complex is just an emotional game that Christians (and those of other religions) play when they are backed into a corner and cannot answer questions asked of them. When their god does not come to their aid, when their minds go blank, they turn on the boo-hooing tactics to distract from the real fact that they just don’t have any answers to back up what they are professing to believe in. The persecution tactic is turned on when religious folks cannot get their way concerning issues of separation of church and state. They turn on the tears when they are not allowed to impose their personal religious beliefs on others.

Here is a good essay written by Rob Boston

Persecution Complex: Why Religious Right Claims Of Hostility Toward Christians Ring Hollow

Yesterday I received an e-mail from the Rev. Donald Wildmon’s American Family Association advertising a new DVD titled “Speechless: Silencing the Christians.”

“Facing rising persecution and discrimination, many Christians feel hopeless, uncertain what to do,” reads the promotional copy. The e-mail promises that I will learn “how you can be prepared if you feel the pressure to be silenced for your faith.”

This is the sort of bullcrap propaganda that religious leaders brainwash their sheeple with. When backed into a corner, and have no answers, start belly-aching and boo-hooing persecution.

Are Christians being persecuted in America?

In a word: no.

What’s happening is that fundamentalists of Wildmon’s ilk constantly try to use the power of the government to promote their narrow faith or foist it onto others. When they are told to stop, they start screaming about persecution.

Exactly.

A small victory

12 December 2008 by Stardust

Let’s hope it’s a lasting decision, and let’s hope more judges decide to uphold the separation of church and state by doing away with license plates that promote God beliefs. God believers will still be able to display their Jesus fish and whatever they want to tacky up their cars with. They don’t need the state to display their beliefs on government license plates.

SC ordered to stop making religious license plates

COLUMBIA, S.C. – A federal judge says South Carolina must stop marketing and making license plates that feature the image of a cross and the words “I Believe.”

A federal judge issued a temporary injunction during a court hearing Thursday after opponents said the plates violate the separation of church and state.

U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie said the case needs to be heard in court. In the meantime, the judge said the Department of Motor Vehicles cannot take any more orders for the plates.

Department spokeswoman Beth Parks said the agency stopped taking orders more than a month ago, after it collected the 400 needed to cover the cost of making the plates. She said they are in production, and none has shipped.

The boo-hooing has already started. The general comments are much like this one:

Examiner Reader said:
I think Christians should be allowed to have a cross on their license plate if they wish. Freedom of expression etc., a few should not dictate to the many.

Christians, you can have your freedom of expression however you want, with your Jesus fish, your bumper stickers, t-shirts, church bells and steeples dotting the landscape, but you cannot imprint your beliefs on government property. Sorry.

Pat Boone Says:

11 December 2008 by jimmer

“Hate is Hate, In America or India.”

So far so good. But after much blah blah blah he goes on to state.

And why? Well, if current theories and intel are correct, this slaughter was planned and executed by one of many Islamic groups that feel directed by their religion to subjugate – or exterminate – “infidels” like Hindus, Jews, Christians and even other Muslims who don’t hew to their extremist views. To them, there is only one acceptable worldview – a theology they intend to enforce on all humankind – and anyone who might disagree or obstruct their goals should be removed, violently if need be.

Thank God, it couldn’t happen here. Could it?

Look around. Watch your evening news. Read your newspaper.

Are you unaware of the raging demonstrations in our streets, in front of our churches and synagogues, even spilling into these places of worship, and many of these riots turning defamatory and violent? Have you not seen the angry distorted faces of the rioters, seen their derogatory and threatening placards and signs, heard their vows to overturn the democratically expressed views of voters, no matter what it costs, no matter what was expressed at the polls? Twice?

I refer to California’s Proposition 8. You haven’t heard about the well-oiled campaign to find out the names of every voter and business that contributed as much as $1,000, or even much less, in support of Prop 8? You haven’t heard about the announced plans to boycott, demonstrate, intimidate and threaten each one – because they dared to vote to retain marriage as between one man and one woman? You haven’t seen, on the evening news, prominent entertainers and even California Gov. Schwarzenegger, urging the demonstrators on, telling them they should “never give up” until they get their way?

PHEEEWWWW!!!!!!!! I have yet to see or hear any jump quite so large as this. Even Evil Kneivel would have a hard time making that jump, rocket enhanced.

I’ve checked and I have found ZERO hospiptalizations due to GAY riots. AAAHHHH so Pat please do tell how this is even close to

Islamic groups that feel directed by their religion to subjugate – or exterminate – “infidels” like Hindus, Jews, Christians and even other Muslims who don’t hew to their extremist views.

I’m ???
Bewildered???
Ohhh? but that’s not all is it Pat?

There never were any “rights” granted or designated to those who dissented with the will of the majority, other than the same rights all citizens have to work through the democratic process to accomplish their purposes. No “rights” were ever granted to citizens on the basis of their sexual habits or lifestyle. There simply are no such “rights.”

Ahh but here is where you are relly WRONG Pat. Rights are not granted that is why they are called RIGHTS. (You’re a wealthy man find out about that.)

The rights of LIFE, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of HAPPINESS
Isn’t that all that is being requested Pat?
The entire article can be found here

Man! I’m tired of this bullshit. SOOOOOOO!!!!

To wash this horseshit out of your mouth GIF’sers I give you this.
From the movie “DINGO”
The opening scene with Mile Davis Band. Rent the movie. It is a good flick. Great music and Miles’s only Movie appearance that I know of.
My mouse is not working properly.

Magical incantations for auto industry bail out

10 December 2008 by Stardust

Christians begging their imaginary friend for all sorts of things is not unusual, but bringing automobiles to the altar is kind of bizarre. Why can Gob only see and hear things that are brought inside of a church? Church leaders are so into theatrics.

SUVs at altar, Detroit church prays for a bailout

And I agree with Obama, CEOs should go. If it’s that bad that they need a humongous government bailout, and if they are in need of laying off the little guys who make peanuts compared to the corporate leaders, then upper management should also be cut. And for those who are left, pay cuts, no bonuses and sacrifice for the good of the company they wish to keep afloat with our tax dollars.

Obama: Auto CEOs Should Go

The criticism of industry leaders deepened as negotiators for the White House and Congress narrowed their differences over a plan to extend roughly $15 billion in short-term loans to any Detroit automaker that needs it. Analysts say General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC, in particular, are at risk for running out of money in the next few weeks, and that Ford Motor Co. (F, Fortune 500) may need help if the economy deteriorates further.

Democratic Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan, whose state is ground zero for the battered industry, said he was confident an agreement would emerge within the next day.

Democratic leaders have said they hope to pass the measure this week. While Levin declined to predict its approval, support among rank-and-file lawmakers presumably would improve dramatically if both White House and Obama were to signal their backing once the legislation is complete.

“The last thing I want to see happen is for the auto industry to disappear, but I’m also concerned that we don’t put $10 billion or $20 billion or $30 billion or whatever billion dollars into an industry, and then, six months to a year later, they come back hat in hand and say, `Give me more,”‘ Obama said.

I agree with Obama, just handing over billions of dollars isn’t enough to save these ailing corporations, and it doesn’t seem like the executives in charge are doing enough to help the company as a whole, and making the changes necessary to turn these companies around to a positive direction.

“What we haven’t seen is a sense of urgency and the willingness to make tough decisions. And what we still see are executive compensation packages for the auto industry that are out of line compared to their competitors, their Japanese competitors, who are doing a lot better,” he said.

Asked whether the top executives should remain in the jobs, he said, “Here’s what I’ll say, that it may not be the same for all the companies. But what I think we have to put an end to is the head-in-the-sand approach to the auto industry that has been prevalent for decades now.”

Later, at the news conference, he appeared to temper his comments, saying that current management should be ousted if it doesn’t understand the urgent need to make changes in the industry.

Who’s his daddy?

9 December 2008 by Stardust

I would buy these and send them if I wasn’t so damned considerate:

My other choice was this one: Creepy Santa. You can buy these and other atheist and secularist cards at this site, and lots of other sites online. Some Christians in my family are afraid of the internet for good reason.

American Atheist new website

9 December 2008 by Stardust

For those of you who didn’t know, American Atheists is under the new leadership of Ed Buckner, Ph.D who takes the place of Ellen Johnson who recently resigned. The website has a fresh, new look and while much of it is under construction, it is looking modern, lively and interesting. Hopefully they can keep their news items up to date now, too. It was stagnant for so long.

Here is a welcome from Ed Bruckner.

About the President

Many of you who are active in the movement will know of Dr. Buckner’s accomplishments, originating in the Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Separationists (then an American Atheists affiliated corporation), helping to grow the Atlanta Freethought Society through its formative years, and then most recently serving as the Executive Director of the Counsel for Secular Humanism.

A hardcore Atheist, Dr. Buckner has written, spoken, debated, and appeared often in the media, both locally and nationally. He has been on MSNBC, Good Morning America, CBS Evening News, Fox News, the Michael Medved Show, CNN, the national CBS Radio News, NPR, and on nearly every local media outlet (radio or television) in the Atlanta and Buffalo areas, most repeatedly. He’s been quoted, sometimes at length, in newspapers all over the nation and, occasionally, elsewhere in the world, been a featured guest on many Internet broadcast shows, and given the keynote address for Atheists Alliance International.

Dr Buckner has debated or spoken in Alabama , California , Connecticut , DC, Florida , Georgia , Illinois , Indiana , Kansas , Kentucky , Missouri , New York , Ohio , South Carolina , Tennessee , Texas , and a few times outside the U.S. He earned a doctorate (1983) and M.Ed. (1975) from Georgia State University ; B.A., English, Rice University , 1967.
