McPalin must be stopped
13 September 2008 by StardustThe radical religious right has succeeded in taking over one of America’s great political parties. The country is not yet a theocracy but the Republican Party is, and they are driving American politics, using God as a battering ram on almost every issue: crime and punishment, foreign policy, health care, taxation, energy, regulation, social services and so on.” — Bill Moyers
The more I learn about this woman, Sarah Palin, the more frightening it becomes. We are in imminent danger of having a crazy fundie as leader of our secular nation — one who is a dominionist, who believes in speaking in tongues, being possessed by the holy spirit and holy anointing of laughter, just to name a few. Everyone should post this on their websites and send it via email to all you know, including all those fundie family members who send you religious crap all the time. Considering all the media attention that Obama’s crazy pastor got during the primaries, why isn’t the media talking about Palin’s personal crazyass beliefs? Especially if one day a dominionist may have her finger on the nuclear button.
I came across the link to this video via talk2action.org:
Palin’s Churches and the Holy Laughter anointing
From Bruce Wilson at Huffington Post (I’ve provided a few links):
Sarah Palin’s churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical by the Assemblies of God in 1949. This is the same ‘Spiritual Warfare’ movement that was featured in the award winning movie, “Jesus Camp,” which showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin’s churches are involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is referred to as The Third Wave of the Holy Spirit or the New Apostolic Reformation. The movement is training a young “Joel’s Army” to take dominion over the United States and the world.
Along with her entire family, Sarah Palin was re-baptized at twelve at the Wasilla Assembly of God in Wasilla, Alaska and she attended the church from the time she was ten until 2002: over two and 1/2 decades. Sarah Palin’s extensive pattern of association with the Wasilla Assembly of God has continued nearly up to the day she was picked by Senator John McCain as a vice-presidential running mate. Palin’s dedication to the Wasilla church is indicated by a Saturday, September 7, 2008, McClatchy news service story detailing possibly improper use of state travel funds by Palin for a trip she made to Wasilla, Alaska to attend, on June 8, 2008, both a Wasilla Assembly of God “Masters Commission” graduation ceremony and also a multi-church Wasilla area event known as “One Lord Sunday.” At the latter event, Palin and Alaska LT Governor Scott Parnell were publicly blessed, onstage before an estimated crowd of 6,000, through the “laying on of hands” by Wasilla Assembly of God’s Head Pastor Ed Kalnins whose sermons espouse such theological concepts as the possession of geographic territories by demonic spirits and the inter-generational transmission of family “curses”. Palin has also been blessed, or “anointed,” by an African cleric, prominent in the Third Wave movement, who has repeatedly visited the Wasilla Assembly of God and claims to have effected positive, dramatic social change in a Kenyan town by driving out a “spirit of witchcraft.”
The Wasilla Assembly of God church is deeply involved with both Third Wave activities and theology. Their Master’s Commission program is part of an three year post-high school international training program with studies in prophecy, intercessory prayer, Biblical exegesis, authority and leadership. The pastor, Ed Kalnins, and Masters Commission students have traveled to South Carolina to participate in a “prophetic conference” at Morningstar Ministries, one of the major ministries of the Third Wave movement. Becky Fischer was a pastor at Morningstar prior to being featured in the movie “Jesus Camp.” [my emphasis]The head of prophecy at Morningstar, Steve Thompson, is currently scheduled to do a prophecy seminar at the Wasilla Assembly of God. Other major leaders in the movement have also traveled to Wasilla to visit and speak at the church.

Positive dramatic social change such as this?
Mob burns to death 11 people in western Kenya accused of being witches and wizards

Because the media was “reporting” when it was Obama (indirectly). If they were to talk about Palin, it would be “smearing”.

Considering how badly fundies don’t want to be associated with monkeys (have you seen the “making a monkey outta you” billboards?) it’s hilarious to me that in the background, there was someone “laughing” that sounded EXACTLY like a monkey. In fact, the background laughing often sounded like a large group of monkeys. And, in a way, I guess they were.
This video is kinda hard to follow. I don’t think I’ll be reposting it because of that, but I do agree that it’s ridiculous that we haven’t heard anything about Palin’s churches/pastors

This election is the most insane EVER, in my experience!
Will it also be similar to the 2000 ‘nail-biting’ fiasco…i.e…another “Recount”?
If the spineless media isn’t going to alert people about just HOW fucking nuts Palin is; it’s going to be up to (highly intelligent & AWAKE?) people like us to pass on links, like the Huffington Post’s shtick, to all of our receptive relatives and friends.
This whole debacle shows just how much of a liar “McShame” really is. Such blatant, fucking, lowest common denominator bullshit demonstrates just how desperately he wants power. It doesn’t matter that our Constitution and all the, long fought for, personal “Rights” will be in definite danger if he and his screwball consort get elected.
Not to mention the whole gang of other demented, Dominionist, Neocon style ass-wipes that would again sweep into power with them.
[OK..I mentioned it!]
Once again…aside from the obviously important Economy and Iraq War issues…
“IT’S THE SUPREME COURT…STUPID!”

Off topic…this rain we are having in Chicagoland is terrible. Floods everywhere. Rivers and creeks overflowing. They had to open the locks to Lake Michigan and allow the water from the Chicago River to flow back out into the lake.
ChuckA..saw your area on the news and all those homes flooded and cars submerged. Hope you don’t have to evacuate.
Stay safe everyone. More torrential rain through tomorrow.

If you viewed only the scenes from these videos showing people laughing hysterically, crying, falling and rolling around on the floor, you could be excused for thinking you were witnessing a film made at an insane asylum. Which it is, of course, but these inmates not only run free and vote, one of them may soon be our second-in-command, rendering that old cliche about the lunatics running the asylum moot to the point of absurdity. Also, I’m surprised that people who literally believe they are at war with demons aren’t thrown into a paranoid fit by anything called Morningstar Ministries, considering that the book of Isaiah equates the Morning Star (Venus, actually) with none other than Lucifer.

Being inside all day, and more in touch with the hurricane Ike news, I was really surprised when I checked the local weather. I was feeling rather glad, in fact, reminiscing that I no longer, since July of 2005, have to make a “musical trek” down to a previous ‘every Saturday’ Sears Tower gig; or schlepp my equipment out to some other downtown hotel-based “jobbing gig”! I understand a whole lot of expressways were flooded under viaducts.
“Ain’t (forced) retirement grand?”
Anyway, Stardust, right where I’m at, in an ‘unincorporated’ part of Des Plaines…quite aways from the Des Plaines river…there’s just a lot of puddling on the local grass; at least as far as I can tell. And I’m OK, since we’re on the second floor of an apartment complex. More rain tomorrow, however!
After seeing a lot of the various damage in Texas…I (and most of us?) really have nothing to complain about…EXCEPT, regarding…
THAT (Mc)PALIN BITCH!!! [Lest we forget?]
Hmmm…Does anyone else, perchance, think her picture might be an appropriate “Poster gal” PIC right alongside the word “bitch” in any number of dictionaries, or Encyclopedias…HmmmMMM?
And, come to think of it…what word, indeed, would be good for McShame’s PIC to accompany…
[Of course...replacing Dubya...or is it Cheney...or Rove...or...?]
Any suggestions?

McCain must have been possessed to choose Palin as his running mate. Mind-boggling.

At least the WaPo (yesterday) and the NYT (today) are running something that appears to be, gasp, actual reportage about Our Lady Of The Bridge To Nowhere.
Religion, like out of wedlock teen pregnancy is only a issue if there a (d) next to the candidate’s name. Fucking hypocrites. That fat fuck running the prayer meetings? Is he an Aussie or just doing a horrible aussie accent?

democommie, ^^I think he is an actual Aussie with a horrible aussie accent.

“McCain must have been possessed to choose Palin as his running mate. Mind-boggling.”
Actually, it was genious. McPTSD is an expert political opportunist who is willing to take chances. He scored with this risky move–drawing media attention away from Obama’s speech the night before his announcement AND endearing himself to the one block of voters who were squirrely about voting for him–the evangelicals–a block he probably disdains almost as much as you and I (I maintain he is an atheist for all intense purposes) but knows he needs to win the election. The misleadingly monikered “values voter” block is a group of voters that “thinks with their hearts” and ‘ho boy, did he tug on the strings with that move. Cynical, yes, crazy (from a purely political standpoint) absolutely not.

Is it just me or is the music for that video somewhat reminiscent of that which was played for movies like “The Exorcist” and “The Omen”? Speaking of bad movies about the battle between good and eeeeeeeevil, I would like to see Richard Simmons in a remake titled, “The Exercisist”.

You know what is really sad? McCain showed promise in 2000 towards divorcing the GOP from the Religious Right when he decried Falwell et. al. as the “agents of intolerance.”
But, since that time, McCain has worked his way back into the good graces of those “agents of intolerance”; and hit a grand slam with his pick of uber-fundamentalist-Christofascist Sarah Palin.
McCain has not only sold his soul to win, but he is playing with fire in exposing America to someone as inexperienced and religiously radical as Palin. I thought McCain wanted to put “country first.” It appears that instead he has put his career and winning first.
Shame on him.

You just know that James Dobson is secretly praying each night that McCain has a heart attack on Jan 20.

OK–I hadn’t watched the video yet. I just tried and could only make it through the fist couple minutes. That laughter was absolutely disturbing. And this coming from somone who loves to laugh.

doG, these people are frightening; they really are traitors to humanity and the planet, with their yearning for the End Times and actively seeking to bring about the Apocalypse. I mean, really; if you want to be at Jeebus’s side so badly, why not try to die already? I know they don’t believe in suicide, but surely they can attempt martyrdom by sneaking in to Saudi Arabia to Witness or something…

Eve, I could never understand that those who believe in the End of Time who want to engage in politics. But I think after reading some sites, I figured it out. They want to get elected to get a larger audience to “witness” to before Jeebus comes to destroy everything. What drama to go through when all this god could do is blink his eyes like I Dream of Jeannie, like these people believe he created everything, wipe everything out and start over, making his own special pets to swoon over him for eternity since that is what this god wants anyway.
No Christians I know like to debate that because they have no answers and it’s to absurd to even make a debate out of it. It just sounds crazier and crazier and they find it easier to believe this crap if they just don’t talk about it.
