Speaking of rising oil prices, gasoline in our area is now at $4.19 a gallon.

If, as Rumsfeld noted, you go to war with the army you have, and your army is lacking a cadre of lawless, mercenary wannabe independent contractors, maybe you shouldn’t be in the war business.
If you plan for chocolates, flowers, and whatever the Arabic for “Vive Les Etats-Unis!” is on your arrival and you end up having to hire body guards for anyone not already in kevlar and helmets, maybe you shouldn’t be in the planning business.
If you decide dismantling the Iraqi Army and sending them home with their weapons is a good idea only to essentially man and arm the insurgency in one fell swoop, maybe you ought not be in the deciding business.
If you’re gonna put honorable and lowly paid boots on the ground right next to contractors raking it in like it’s monopoly money…well, you’re just an idiot.
If you’re gonna fund your war on futures- because surely those Iraqi oil revenues will cover the whole thing- and, now, the tab is closing in on a trillion dollars, maybe you ought to get out of the finance business.
If you’re response to the 9/11 attacks, where less than 3000 died, is getting over 4000 more of us killed- not to mention the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens who got in the way, in a place that didn’t have anything to do with the attack, then you should be drawn, quartered, pilloried, and guillotined, publicly, repeatedly, perpetually…

I just really do not understand how our country got to this point. I think it was Thomas Jefferson who warned about the citizenry being able to tap into the treasury. I’ll find it but that is all it is about. MONEY and the use of an Idealolgy (christ-insani-tee) to swindle us all while we are looking the other way as if it were some 3 card monty. The only dif is that people die in this game.

Jimmer, don’t forget Ike warning about too much power in the hands of the military-industrial complex.

^and Ike was an Army General AND a Republican, for fuck’s sake!!!
BTW–I love Mark Fiore. That cartoon is hilarious, even if it is painfully true.
