Olbermann says,”Bush Shut The Hell Up”
21 May 2008 by StardustNice rant once again by Keith Olbermann who says it so well.
This is a must-see.
“Mr. President, the war isn’t about you — or golf”
Olbermann: Bush’s claim he gave up game to honor dead GIs is ludicrous
Part one
Part two

Yay, Keith! At least someone in the MSM isn’t afraid of continuing to point out what a horrible, horrible person our current president is!
The Shrub’s infantile remark reminded me of how his wife shrilly insisted on national TV that “no one” had suffered more during the Iraq debacle than she and her awful husband. I wonder if she kept that in mind while planning her daughter’s wedding…
21 May 2008, on 4:38 pm
Bush should be surrounded by TV screens every night as he tries to go to sleep and have this rant by Keith played on a loop to hound him.
Keith says it so well, what we all are thinking. I am so thankful he is on the air to speak our thoughts! I wish he could be cloned and aired on every channel.
21 May 2008, on 5:25 pm
I think I have the hots for Keith Olbermann. I love his rants. They are always so scathing and dead on.
I think this one may have been his best yet, even better than the “Mr. Bush, you are a facist!” one.
Come on! We have young men and women, people my age with their whole lives ahead of them dying every day, and Bush thinks he’s really got it tough by giving up golf?! And he apparently didn’t give it up after he said he gave it up anyway. Jesus fucking Christ.

Stardust:
The reichwingers absolutely hate KO. He’s smart, telegenic and has their number.

Yes, I hardly ever miss Keith Olbermann’s show. I think he’s actually unique amongst the commentators for his straight talking, pull-no-punches, critiques of Bush and Co.
Something that I think should be repeated over and over regarding whether we’ll more likely to be vulnerable to attack if there is a Democrat elected President in November… let’s not forget that the current boneheaded occupant of the office was reading “The Pet Goat”, and sat for some seven minutes before noticeably responding to the attack on 9/11. It was, indeed, under the “Repiglican Watch” that we HAD the horrible, disastrous attack in the first place! I think maybe the Democrats should be reminding everyone of that fact whenever the subject of potential attacks comes up. Not only was it under the Repiglicans that the attack occurred, but it was WAY over a year that they had been in office, when it occurred; and I think we all know the accounts of the stupid ignoring of several warnings of the attack…and Bush-whacks long vacation that summer.
Indeed, Keith, ending his show as Edward R. Murrow used to do; ala…”Goodnight, and Good Luck”… has certainly earned him the right to use that phrase.
If, indeed, there were a Journalist “Ramen” award; certainly Keith, in my opinion, has uniquely earned the right to claim it.
[GifS announcer?]:
“…and the “Ramen” for outstanding, ultra-gutsy Video Journalism, goes to…”

If I had a womb, I would bear his young.
Assuming, of course, that any mere mortal is fit to be vessel for such beings.
Just wow. We’ve been hearing that sort of thing on blogs and such forever, but on MSNBC? I didn’t think I would ever see this day, and it brings a tear to my eye.

golf is a lame waste of land. olbermann is a god bothering oportunist though – dont get me wrong, im not defending bush here… anyone check the popular vote totals over at realclearpolitics.com? When all states are counted, Clinton now leads in the popular vote – why isnt the media talking about this???
22 May 2008, on 12:19 pm
That was fun.
22 May 2008, on 12:39 pm
Clinton now leads in the popular vote – why isnt the media talking about this???
Because Hillary isn’t like Gore and running against a Rethuglican…if this was Hillary vs McCain everyone would be asking this same question that you just asked.
22 May 2008, on 4:50 pm
HA!
Now back to our regularly scheduled fascism.
22 May 2008, on 9:00 pm
Actually, according to Nightline, the only way Clinton is leading in the popular vote is if one counts the Michigan and Florida votes and Obama wasn’t even on the Michigan ballot(370K to 0). Nor did he campaign at all in Florida. So, those who are crying about this non-issue would either have Obama punished for following the mandates of the DNC(which penalized both states in question for moving their primaries ahead without approval)or Clinton rewarded for breaking the rules. She made no argument about this at the time it happened, though she did ignore the prohibition to actively campaign in FLA. The fault here lies with the party at either the local or national- whichever side you’re on- level. Hilary’s new fuzzy math reeks of desperation, as does her still being in it at all. For the good of the party- and indirectly the nation, Hilary, sit down and shut the fuck up!
Sorry, I was attempting to K.O. Hilary, there.
23 May 2008, on 12:57 pm
well that was very eloquent RDZ, what a mature way of putting things. Is that a bit of misogyny coming out in your “sit down and shut the fuck up?”. kind of reminds me of Obama’s “sweetie” remark when he brushed aside a female reporters question to proceed with a photo op at the Dodge plant. I for one think that it is unfair for the same states to always go first in the primaries. Why should voters in two states be punished because the politicians controlling their states chose to move the dates forward and because a few candidates were stupid enough to remove their names from the ballot? It may be true that Obama can improve his standing in a race by outspending his competitor 4:1 with special interest money, but why did the Obama campaign squash the plans for a revote in mihcigan?
Like I said before, when all states are counted, Clinton is leading in popular vote! Take a look at the polls, Hillary does better in swing states. All the crying from the Obama worshippers about how negative Clinton’s campaign has supposedly been (without any sense of irony) will be laughable if and when the real attacks on his lack of experience and shady relationships come. I think its telling how all Obama’s campaign can come up with is an argument for inevitabliyity and “ending the drama” – never once has Obama’s campaign been centered on any real issues.
23 May 2008, on 1:30 pm
Once everyone has had their vote counted in the remaining primaries (just like the concept of a democracy goes… not just folks in iowa) Clinton will likely lead even if you dont count michigan – of course some Obama worshippers will still seek to trump the will of the majority, its just how hypocritical some folks can be.
23 May 2008, on 6:09 pm
I think that the primaries should be allowed to run their course. If a solid frontrunner becomes clear and the other wants to get out early, that’s fine too, but forcing the point in a close race seems a bit, uh, undemocratic. I don’t understand why so much negative energy is devoted to this issue. If the way the race is conducted is going to harm the eventual candidate, then the party leadership needs to address that issue as a simple tactical matter for the good of the party. Any politicians in a close race are too busy and too desperate to be trusted.
A race is a race, but too much catfighting just looks stupid. Notice how the republicans actually played pretty nice with each other this time around? They are pretending to be good sports about it now(like dems used to,) being the bigger man so they can save their ammo for the already tired and publicly shit-on candidate that emerges from the democratic race.
For the record, I would vote for either of them or a dead squirrel before I would vote for any current republican, so this issue gets a bit old to me. I am no great Hillary fan, just because she’s so “moderate.” These days, “moderate” means a slightly-right leaning republican clone who happens to favor public education AND never-ending warfare. I like that Obama is a relatively unconnected newcomer, in fact, it’s the thing I like best about him. It may lessen his effectiveness, but at least I won’t have to hold my nose to vote for him, or wonder how many billions of dollars the next war will make for him.
In response to Raindogzilla’s comment, I don’t care for the hostility against an ambitious woman who isn’t ready to give up. If the dems are going to run a competent campaign, this should be a minor hiccup, not a family feud.
In response to original jimmie dean’s comments, I will say this: When I hear the phrase “Obama worshipper” it makes me think that you are just a republican pretending to care or stirring up shit for kicks, and the rest of your point becomes moot. That level of political comment makes you sound like a dismissive jerkoff who belongs on the Rush Limbaugh show. I have yet to see anybody worshipping Obama, and disagreement with your political opinions does not constitute membership in a cult. Maybe some naive folks are just happy to have a candidate that hasn’t pissed them off…yet.
23 May 2008, on 11:58 pm
Boy, poor, poor, Hillary. She has pulled so many low, shitty tricks in this campaign and yet people whine about how she is treated. It is true that she shouldn’t be treated badly by the media because she’s a woman–there’s several other reasons to treat her that way. I don’t give a FLYING FUCK who gets the nod–I would vote for a dem named Hannibal Lecter at this point. More Bush-McSame is a prescription for even worse shit to happen.
All of you folks that have your feelings hurt over the way poor Hillary has been treated better think about how much worse it will get if McFuck has his way with the SCoTUS and the war in Iraq.

Some reasons why worst president ever:
1. No other president has responded in such a half-hearted and incomplete manner to serious threats to the United States, and then left the job unfinished, as this one has to the al Qaeda threat after the September 11th attacks. [more]
2. No other president has betrayed his country by subverting the fight against enemies sworn to destroy us by diverting resources from that effort to a war of his choosing against a nation that posed no imminent threat.
3. No other president has displayed such cold disregard for life as did this one when he golfed, played guitar, and ate cake as a killer hurricane bore down on the poor and helpless of New Orleans.
4. No other president has stayed on vacation after a catastrophe hit the United States as this one did for two days after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast.
5. No other president has claimed the extra-constitutional power to throw US citizens in prison indefinitely and to deny them access to lawyers, contact with the outside world, and their habeas corpus rights.
6. No other president has saddled so many future generations with so much debt by giving his rich financial backers tax breaks that must be paid for by our children and our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren.
7. No other president has created so much anger and ill-will toward the United States as to drive tens of thousands of new recruits into the arms of our enemies as this one has by invading Iraq.
8. No other president has so deeply damaged the credibility and prestige of the United States in the eyes of the world.
9. No other president has so blindly ignored scientific evidence and followed political ideology and religious fundamentalism in setting national policy.
10. No other president has so badly deceived and misled his own people and the world as this one did with his “reasons” for invading Iraq.
11. No other president has so poorly grasped his mother tongue.
12. No other president has been so incapable of admitting mistakes and learning from them.

“The Shrub’s infantile remark reminded me of how his wife shrilly insisted on national TV that “no one” had suffered more during the Iraq debacle than she and her awful husband…”
Pickles actually said that, Eve? Gawd, I think she may actually be more awful than the Shrub-in-thief.
The truly sad thing is that Shrubby is probably so staggeringly out-of-touch with the concept of humanity that he seriously considers a golf-free lifestyle (which is, incidentally, about two notches lower on the “jackass-useless scale” than littering the back of your car with sanctimonious ribbon magnets) to be a noble sacrifice on his part.
This conscience-bereft megalomoron has neither said nor done anything to indicate that he holds anything but contempt for our servicemen and women.
28 May 2008, on 3:55 pm
^ Yep, Fritzy, she sure did say it, and added that she wanted the nation to be aware of the burden on the Shrub’s shoulders.
Didn’t I hear somewhere at some point in time that this is the president who has taken the most vacation time ever?

haha good one neil – always a good way to put someone in their place by using profanity. And to think – Maybe you should sit down and count to ten… While your at it think about the lack of logic in considering someone’s points “moot” as a reaction to what you consider their error in attatching labels to people you call “naive”. Neither am i a republican nor am I trying to “stir up shit for kicks”. Perhaps you shold do some research on camp obama, it may help you understand why I use the term Obama Worshippers. I’d tell you to listen to the rush limbaugh show to differentiate, but I wouldnt wish that on anyone’s ears.
29 May 2008, on 11:52 am
perhaps someday my level of political commenting will raise to the high standard set by neil. untill that day, all hail Obama our saviour from hawaii!
29 May 2008, on 6:19 pm
Original jimmie dean: I thank you for not wishing Rush Limbaugh on my ears. Seriously! It shows a degree of humanity missing from much of America these days. I have heard his self-righteous cackle too many times already.
To my ears, “Obama worshipper” is right in there with “loony liberal,” “feminazi,” and the rest of the dismissive garbage I hear from right-wing jingoistic fearmongers on a daily basis. You said something that, intended or not, strongly reminded me of that same mindset and use of playground tactics. When I hear or read such things, the first thing that comes to my mind is “dismissive jerkoff.” Maybe that should bother you more than it bothers me. Or not.
I could have been more clear in my comment. When I used the word “naive” I was referring to the fact that if Obama gets elected or just continues in politics, many of his “worshippers” will eventually find some area of disagreement with him, no matter how well or badly he performs.
I admit I have not observed his following outside of my own local area and what I see on the news and the blogs. As far as I’ve seen, they are no more “worshippers” than any other long-disappointed but hopeful group of voters. At least around my parts, there is only a quiet enthusiasm that revolves almost solely around getting as many neo-cons out of office as possible. I have yet to see much of the fawning praise that I keep hearing about. Do his more fervent supporters place too much stock in promises of change? Of course. But if these are “worshippers” then every McCain supporter and Ron Paul cheerleader qualify as delusional fanatics on par with Jim Jones.
Sorry if I seemed a bit dismissive myself. When I read the comments of yourself and raindogzilla what I saw was a metaphor for the dems over the last 8 years. So much pointless bickering and no will to win unless the voters are so disgusted with republicans that they hand the victory over on a platter. I don’t care who wins as long as they are not completely owned by neo-con ambitions. I voted for Hillary in the California primary because at the time I thought she had it already. If I am proven wrong nationally I will vote for Obama with a smile on my face. At this point I don’t care if some people have some false hope, if that’s what it takes. The alternative is “four more years” which is no hope at all.
Attack my comment all you like. I think I addressed the issue squarely as I saw it. To me, Clinton is just another moderate republican running as a democrat. Obama is, as far as I know, a watered-down, smooth talking, less influential version of the same. Barring impeachment of Bush or mass protesting, either is preferable to four more years of reactionary bullshit. Maybe if the country is willing to stoop to my level of political discourse and attack those who have earned our wrath rather than each other, we can get somewhere. Or not.
