To Sir, with hate
21 June 2007 by vastleftReaction from our ally Pakistan on the news of Salman Rushdie’s impending knighthood:
Today, Pakistan’s religious affairs minister suggested that the knighthood was so grave an offence that any Muslim anywhere in the world would be justified in taking violent action.
“If somebody has to attack by strapping bombs to his body to protect the honour of the Prophet then it is justified,” Mr ul-Haq told the National Assembly.
The minister, the son of Zia ul-Haq, the military dictator who died in a plane crash in 1988, later retracted his statement in parliament, then told the AFP news agency that he meant to say that knighting Rushdie would foster extremism.
Muslim clerics in the Asian nation took a page from “The Blue Ribbon Puppies” and your local youth soccer league, where everyone gets a nice little award, no matter what they do. Thus, they’re giving an honorary title to mass-murderer Osama Bin Laden:
“If a blasphemer can be given the title ‘Sir’ by the West despite the fact he’s hurt the feelings of Muslims, then a mujahid who has been fighting for Islam against the Russians, Americans and British must be given the lofty title of Islam, Saifullah,” the chairman, Tahir Ashrafi, told Reuters.
I guess Hot Chocolate was right: “Every 1’s a Winner.”

If someone will tell me where he is I’ll give Osama Bin Laden a gold star…

Aww, poor wittle muswims had their feewings hurt, awww.
Fucking morons.

If this is the kind of reaction we’re getting from our alleged allies in the war on terror, we are indeed in deep doody.

“the HONOUR of the PROPHET”???
Hmmm…is it, perhaps, time for us (humble, heathen, GifSters?) to review the use of that rather suspicious, dreamed up, delusional, and DANGEROUS notion of the word “Prophet”; particularly as it’s used in Islamic brainwashing?
See: Prophets of Islam…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophets_of_Islam
[Dig the rather obscure...to most of us infidels...list of whom the Muslims consider 'prophets'.]
Noah, the infamous boat building drunkard, is considered a prophet? He’s called “Nuh”…
Erm…is it, perhaps, by the Islamic ‘knights’ who say “Nuh!”
[Only the Pythonesque bunch, of course]
We’ve discussed (with disgust?) Mohammered, here on GifS, before; regarding his delusional antics and pedophilia, etc.
Just how fucked up are humans to even BEGIN “honoring” psychos, prostrating and bowing down, beating themselves up, mentally, and physically over the head till they bleed [Shiites]…and officially ‘OK’ killing anyone who ‘blasphemes’…or draws a cartoon of such a delusional, psychotic, warlike, probable schizophrenic (maybe Bi-Polar?) supposed honorable, ignorant dork like Mohammad? Or is it “Moe-ham MAD”?
[Do we need another, Islamic, 3 Stooges version? nyuk, nyuk? (Sorry, Eve...Naomi et. al.)]
All religions, in my, what!…rude, audacious, pull-no-punches…atheist opinion, ARE dangerous.
My humble kudos to Dawkins for his rather courageous “Root of All Evil” videos; which go a long way in pointing out the frightening truth about the inherent dangers of religions. We’re watching daily the playing out of all that looniness.
Islam, with its violent, fantasy laden beginnings, ‘Dark Age’ notions, women suppressing, child abusive, projected warlike, world dominating doctrine; stands out from all the rest, as, I think, the MOST dangerous doctrine that a bunch of fucked up humanoids has ever promulgated on the whole of humanity.
“PROPHET???…HONOUR???
BULLSHIT!!!
What outrageous, contemptible, insanity!!!
Yeah…looks like maybe Thursday is my ‘holy’ day of RANT? Something like:
“Remember, thou keep holey the Ranteth-th-th!”
“What’s that, rantlord?…Waddaya mean…
I paid the rant!”

ChuckA: I couldn’t find a “Moe-hammed”, but Jeebus stepped in for Curly one time, when Curly was in rehab -
(*nyuk-nyuk-nyuk*)
21 June 2007, on 1:56 pm
I was baiting muslims, like we all do to xians and the rest of the religious. I’ve seen a lot worse go un-edited…
21 June 2007, on 2:23 pm
And you’re saying “gratuitously rude sexual comments” as if that’s a bad thing. After reading that I’m curious as to what was said. Does it involve intercourse with a camel? goat?
21 June 2007, on 2:41 pm
Revenant,
‘Twas a judgment call. I don’t recall seeing criticism of xians taking quite the same tenor, but I’m relatively new here.
21 June 2007, on 2:59 pm
Brodie, something to that effect, yes.

I think that we should construct Martyr Devices™, so that the True Believers™ can satisfy their need to die for their faith.
A Martyr Device™ consists of a secret hidden bunker with a toilet and a copy of al Qur’an placed on a hinged shelf above the toilet. The release mechanism that drops the holy book into the toilet is attached to a timer, which may be reset by pressing a switch in the Martyr Booth™, thus temporarily preventing the defacement of the book.
Along with resetting the timer, a press of the switch will initiate some suitable mechanism that terminates the occupant of the Booth™, such as an electric shock or compressing walls, thereby causing the faithful occupant to die for his faith, i.e. to become a Martyr™.
The Martyr Device allows True Believers™ to become martyrs in a safe and convenient manner, without putting anyone else at risk.

They get all worked up about a knighthood and I can’t even get anyone to notice my “Moohammad the pig” action figure made with real bacon.
Perhaps I should start including an itty bitty koran made out of toilet paper for easy flushing?
21 June 2007, on 3:12 pm
I was baiting muslims, like we all do to xians and the rest of the religious.
I can see where the double standard is at play here a bit. It’s apparently ok to bait xians with comments about “inbreeding” and “incestuous acts” but cannot joke in the same way about muslim delusionists. I can see how that can be confusing and seeming to be a bit hypocritical. However, we “bait” them, “asshat” and end up banning them for coming here afterwards. That doesn’t make a lot of sense either…unless one is doing it merely for “sport”. (That is how things used to be around here…does everyone really miss those days of regular asshatting people?)
(As one of the “senior” members here, I am not in favor of comment editing unless things get personal to one of our regular commentors or writer/moderators, OR if a fundie of whatever variety is proseltyzing and violating the comment policy.)
21 June 2007, on 3:28 pm
I agree with this dismissal call. Anyone who condones and/or promotes suicide bombing for any reason is not fit to be in any position of authority, especially state-sponsored positions. “Religion of peace”, my ass! They thrive on violence and look for any excuse for it while there are those who will make up justification for them using the violent methods they do (ex.”they are poor”, “they are oppressed”, etc.) There is NO justification for it. Ever.
21 June 2007, on 3:36 pm
I think the little animation of the guy shitting himself is more offensive that what I said. And if we’re worried about children and such, well the F word is pretty prevalent here, so can’t see that as being the case.
If someone believes muslims don’t deserve what I said about them, then fine.
21 June 2007, on 4:12 pm
If someone believes muslims don’t deserve what I said about them, then fine.
Fundamentalist muslim suicide bombers or any other delusional lunatic who blow themselves and others around them to smithereens for their sky daddy do deserve it.
21 June 2007, on 4:35 pm
Stardust,
My thinking is in line with your second observation — that it doesn’t make sense to bait people into being offended over wholly gratuitous trash-talk.
To me, claims that the Prophet fancied bestial fellatio crossed that line, but perhaps I’m just old-fashioned.
21 June 2007, on 5:33 pm
He apparently did everything else, so it might not be totally out of line
21 June 2007, on 5:44 pm
Can someone please educate on what Sir Rushdie’s book is about? I’ve heard of it plenty of times but no one ever explained what it said.
21 June 2007, on 6:50 pm
Not totally sure, but I think it was an expose on the hatred preached by the Koran and Islam in general.
21 June 2007, on 7:13 pm
I read “Satanic Verses” when it came out in 88 or 89. I don’t remember much of the plot, but it was very surreal. If memory serves the angel that reveals the Quran to Mohammed is really a demon.
Flaky, if a Muslim can’t kill anyone when blowing himself up, then it is not really martyrdom. Sort of like drinking non-alcoholic beer. What’s the point?
21 June 2007, on 9:30 pm
Why is it that if your dog tells you to mass murder, you are considered insane, but if your god tells you to do it, you are exhalted and honored with the title “prophet. I’m losing faith in humanity.

“Today, Pakistan’s religious affairs minister suggested that the knighthood was so grave an offence that any Muslim anywhere in the world would be justified in taking violent action.”
…Pakistan should be grateful Knighthood is just nowadays just an honorary civic title and no longer a gang full of bloodthirsty lunatics (Knights Templar, Knights Hospitaller, et. al.) with broadswords, red crosses on their chests and shields, and decked out in helmets & chain-mail, coming to take the “Holy Land” by force again. Sheesh–Count yer fuckin’ blessings, asshole.
…not that there aren’t modern pretenders to this heritage today…like General Boykin, et. al. Also, I the only one who finds it a little ironic that the top General in Iraq has a name reminiscent of a Roman centurion? Just wondering.
A pox on both their houses…

“Today, Pakistan’s religious affairs minister suggested that the knighthood was so grave an offence that any Muslim anywhere in the world would be justified in taking violent action.”
Of course this guy would never consider strapping a bomb on himself. Coward.

Naomi…wonderful pic choice(your #5)…erm…or…
“Nice stepping in?”
One possible caption?…

SO amazingly attractive!”

The satanic verses are parts of Muhammed’s revelations which at some point he decided he didn’t like and so had other revelations that canceled some of the earlier ones.
What can one conclude but that allah must have lied to Muhammed, either the first time or the second time. So if allah has lied to him once, why should he believe anything allah further reveals to him?
How can anyone today believe in allah the liar or illiterate dumbass Muhammed who swallows and regurgitates the lies?
As to muslim sexual hangups, they are only too evident with all the arbitrary rules about the body. Since they seem to believe allah made the body, why are they so ashamed of its work?
At a google page called “Trends”, you can look up stats on any combination of words you choose. For example here, “goat sex”.
http://www.google.com/trends?q=goat+sex+++
Guess which country is first on the list? Of course many of the consultations probably have to do with husbandry, but really, how many can that be? There are no news articles attached at the right. Just for fun, you can look up “horse sex” too, or whatever.
22 June 2007, on 9:16 am
The more logical conclusion is that there is no god and Modumbass made it all up.

OT: But I thought this might be interesting to some folks here, regarding Sam Harris and an assessment by James Randi: http://randi.org/jr/2007-06/062207.html#i8
22 June 2007, on 12:46 pm
This is the same “Modern” Pakistan that the Bush admin is rewarding with a sale of 18 F-16 fighter jets. Hallelujah. More jets in the sky for the war on terror.
I am not one to advocate more laws but in this instance we need a few guidelines on who we as a people can disrespect. One is the fundies of all stripes who advocate murder, errr carrying out the godly duty of killing the infidels.
We in the US could use a law that gives us the power to remove from tax exempt status; All those who advocate corporal punishment for acts that otherwise are only matters of personal choice. We could stop a lot of this nonsense real quick with that one. Their love of their god is only preceded by their love of money, Our money.
Why do these delusional people think that they in fact deserve our respect?
22 June 2007, on 6:45 pm
Revenant,
Interesting link re: Harris. It does make the case of him being an extremist atheist militant that much harder to sell, I suppose.
22 June 2007, on 8:48 pm
Vastleft,
Yeah, it’s kind of a credulous skeleton in his closet, so to speak.
