You’re Going Down in Flames (Hopefully), and You Know It…

pope makes facesThe Pop (fully intentional misspelling) on Mexico City’s recent legalizing of abortion…

Because of course what was the reaction of the Catholic Church in Mexico? Excommunication.

What was the Pop doing over here Americas way? Canonizing Brazil’s first native-born saint, as well as celebrating several masses and visiting a Catholic addiction rehabilitation center. Because pronouncing certain dead people as ipso facto divinities, performing magical acts (and not even good ones; why not a little sleight of hand to substitute real human blood for wine once in a while? What? It could happen), and visiting a rehab center are activities that make such huge strides against Latin American poverty and lack of education.

But hey, what do you expect from the former head of the Inquisition (yes, I know; they changed its name to the Office of Holy Water or some such euphemism some time ago – but it’s the same entity!)? Concern for improving quality of life instead of mere quantity?

Mexico City assembly, good on ya!

  1. Warren:

[V]isiting a Catholic addiction rehabilitation center.

Hey, that’s great news — the first step in handling Catholic addiction is realizing you’ve got a problem…

  2. Naomi:

Hmmm…is that what they call the “holey see”?

  3. Eve:

Oops, Warren; I guess I didn’t phrase that very well – or perhaps I’m more of a humorist than I realize.

“Catholic addiction rehabilitation center” = drug and alcohol rehabilitation center run by the Catholic Church…

  4. Travdawg:

Help! I can’t stop touching little boys.

  5. Stardust:

I just love that peek-a-boo pope pic! LOL!

  6. jimmer:

    Thanks Eve
I was reading that “THE Church” is against condom use and any other controls on pregnancy. Life is beautiful even when lived in poverty? So that is what they really believe. I wonder when the pope and his holy men will join the ranks of poor?

This is just more proof as to how a bad idea can get out of hand and needs to be stopped.

  7. ChuckA:

Hmmm…I commented on this recently with a link to ffrf’s tract about the fact that there’s NOTHING in the Babble about abortion.
Again, I’m reminded of the fact that something like: 1 out of 5 pregnancies ends in miscarriage [natural abortion]…which is NEVER even MENTIONED in any media discussions about the abortion issue.
    Yeah….I wonder why!
Could it be, we humans are not supposed to have any REAL choice regarding ANYTHING…i.e…”Welcome to Cosmic Slavery”!…you ungrateful little piece of shit! You didn’t ask for existence…too bad!…yada, yada…and there’s NO (Existential) EXIT! (Sartre)
Not to go much further into that here (again!); however…miscarriages are ‘chalked off’ as “Gawd’s will”(?); making HIM (Gawd), nevertheless, the champion of all abortionists. Yeah, I know “He” can do whatever “He” wants! That spoiled, never had to earn anything, Psycopathic Fuckhead! (Non-existent, of course!)
[You probably sense, now, where I might be going on this...roit?...NO?]…
The question being…[humor my blasphemous silliness?...Pleeeeese?]
Shouldn’t the Lawd be excomunicated [cut off] from the Church???…But wait!…
The ‘Church’ is supposed to be the visible “Body of Christ”…with Jeebus as the “Head”.
Ergo…excommunicating Jeebus would be like leaving the Church as a kind of cosmic corpse…you know…with no head?
[Aaaah!...A new Xtian Horror film: "Night of the Headless Church"?...erm...you know the reference.]
Additionally…since abortion is considered to be murder by the “Right to Strifers”…
Wouldn’t that really sort of show Jeebus up as being the TRUE Satan…shall we say…’under mask’?

Eve…related to the above BS, and your “It could happen” link [is that, ala Judy Tenuda?] reminded me of another old favorite author of mine, Lloyd Graham [his book really converted me to atheism!]; who also wrote about the Eucharist as a form of Xtianized canabalism…in particular, his critical theme being:
“Demon est Deus Inversus!” (i.e. Satan and God are one and the same!…The old sneaky masquerade of ‘Evil Duality’; like 2 sides of the same coin.]
I know…bottom line…it’s all part of that humongous bullshit Theology; similar to the “Original Sin” doctrine’s terrible injustice of blaming the progeny of poor, ignorant, delusional, Adam and Eve…or, in essence:
Infinitely AND unjustly, “Blaming the Victims”.

OK…I’ll stop now!…The insane machinations of religious dogmas always bring up old reminders of just HOW bonkers the whole subject is.
    “My Brain!!!” [Warp, warp!]
    I know…Sometimes it’s probably better not to even start?…umm…not say anything? Or…
    SHEESH!…WTF!…HOLY SHI-ITE!
    erm…
    OY VEY?

  8. Zipi:

I am going to pretend Warren has the right interpretation: a rehab center for adicts to Catholicism. Can I have some of my friends and relatives admited, please?

  9. The Rev. Jenner J. Hull:

I hate to embarrass His Holiness…

But his hand-mask is upside down and inside out.

  10. karen:

    Il Papa sings:
“If you’re evil and you know it, do like this,
If you’re evil and you know it, do like this,
    If you’re evil but don’t know it…
    Your hypocrisy will show it!
But if your’re evil and you know it, do like this!”

  11. Eve:

    ^ *clap, clap*

ChuckA, you’re so right about abortion not being in the babble, and I believe that based on the OT anyway, jews to this day only consider a baby fully “alive” once it draws its first breath of air – a far more sensible approach, at least as far as religious approaches are concerned.

As for “Demon est Deus Inversus,” I agree! That’s probably why the gnostics consider the god of the babble, especially the OT, a false god or “Satan.”

  12. NuclearShadow:

LOL! What does excommunication even really mean today? In the past it would mean almost certain death but today its meaningless…. Hell I wish to pope himself would excommunicate me right now. Lets see… what would he have against me.. Well I believe we evolved from apes… that the earth is round… o and that its ok for the bible to be translated into other languages so people could see how full of crap it is (even though this already happened and people still believe it) There that should do it. O and I believe the earth revolves around the sun… There I am a heretic Godless bastard (really am a bastard) excommunicate me!
