Goodness gracious, golly geeze, and gee willikers!

17 December 2006 by Stardust

Farewell, Rummy! Please let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

“Other than the war, he achieved utterly nothing,” said Winslow Wheeler, a defense budget expert at the Center for Defense Information. “He inherited a mismanaged, dysfunctional building and, if you can say he had any impact at all, he made those issues worse.”

is it just me, or have we waited long enough without asking the question…Stewart, ‘12? even better than that??? ok… how about a stewart-colbert ticket!

im no karl robe, heh, but i can safely predict a significant, lets say, turn out for a certain influential demographic.

2012…mayans come back from the dead by literally emerging from stone and clay calandars, or President stewart and v.p. colbert…what sounds more likely?????

to quote the man, “jebus phyckin krist!”

  2. ChuckA:

Stewart was amazingly, soooo right on target! [Not surprising, of course.]

The usual ’softball’, and obviously planted, audience questioners were in attendance.
What a delusional universe the current boneheaded administration exists in.
    Yeah…perspective…”ROIT”!
Too bad we can’t beam the whole Bushfuck Administration up to say…oh, maybe…
the dark side of the moon?…
…without space suits, of course! “Aargh!”
Maybe we GifSters should send a huge ‘Ramen’ to Jon Stewart and company?

    Thanks, Stardust, for posting that!
Now, if the Chicago Bears win their game (which I’m also watching)…my day will be perfect…
    then again…maybe not!
    :)

ChuckA – So far, Chi-Town 21, Buckaneers 3 at the second quarter!

(in Chicago superfan voice) “Go Bears!”

(I only care about sports when our teams are winning ;) )

  4. ChuckA:

    Yeah Star…Your comment:
(I only care about sports when our teams are winning ;) )

I have to admit pretty much the same…after Ditka left the Bears, my interest in all sports really waned…temporarily revived by the Phil Jackson/Jordan Bulls’ years.
Finally the Bears look like…just maybe…they could go all the way.
[I've never been 'into' baseball or hockey, though.]
    “Hey!…it’s only a game!”
Hmmm…tangentially…In light of the Rummy retirement, and that Jon Stewart video…
Isn’t that kinda the way Iraq has been ‘played with’ by the Bushies?…Something ‘we’ have to win?…like…we must ALWAYS be Number One?
    “Huh?”
    But, whaddo I know?

  5. beepbeepitsme:

What can I say? This guy is great. I wanna have his children… ;)

  6. Eve:

Bye-bye, Rummers; wish I could say it’s been great, but that would be a big fat lie.

Unfortunately, you’ve earned yourself a place in history, albeit for all the wrong reasons. I look forward to the day when calling someone a “rumsfeld” or a decision “rumsfeldian” will be taken as the worst insult imaginable.

  7. Revenant:

Ever notice how much Rummy and MacNamara (of Viet Nam fame) look alike?

  8. Revenant:

Jeez, not much traffic the last two days. I think the server is having issues. I get “internal server errors” half the time when posting or just clicking around.

  9. Eve:

I know, Rev; the slow traffic must be the holidays. As for the server issues, I’m sure we’ll get it worked out. I just cleaned out the spam folder and liberated a comment – not that he has anything to say, just a general accusation that we’re deleting posts. My guess is he’s a troll or some kind of theist looking for a dust-up!

  10. ChuckA:

I haven’t really had any problems with my few comments getting through; but my Comcast Cable AND Internet connection have been atrocious for the past few days. I could hardly get online yesterday…and when I did, it was sooOO slow. Comcast ain’t cheap, either…and there’s no local competition except buying a Satellite dish…greedy bastards! They’re always changing shtick…and never notify you about anything they’re doing…no surprise!
If I call them; I’m sure they’ll claim it’s ‘my fault!’
”Have you check your cables lately?” Aargh!
When it’s working, it’s nice and fast…I’m reminded of that old (quasi-)American Indian saying [ala Chief Dan George's line from "The Hospital"]:
“Sometimes the magic works…sometimes, it doesn’t!”
    Yeah, ‘Roit’…so much for ‘magic’!”
Say what?…Try crossing your fingers, next time you submit?
Of course, I CAN imagine that the Internet is, and will be, swamped with activity for the duration. I hope there’s no problem for the Carnival shtick!

  11. ChuckA:

goofed in my #10: I meant…checked…dammit! [even Word can't help that kind of shtick!]

Oh,…and Revenant…thanks for reminding me, recently, about my spelling.
I HAVE noticed that my spelling has gotten somewhat worse with age. I need to use Word more often, these days, to catch a lot of silly mispelling that I never used to have a problem with. The problem with Word, in my experience, is that it sometimes freezes online…but fortunately it saves most of your work …and it comes back when reopened.
[Just for future reference?...or maybe Reverance?]
    Yeah, like…getting old ain’t fun! ;(

  12. Revenant:

Lol, no problem, ChuckA. I’ve always been a stickler for spelling, since it has always come naturally for me. And for pronunciation, so the ever-present “nucyuler”, “periphial”, “eye-rack”, “eye-ran”, etc. really stick in my craw when I hear them. ;)

  13. ChuckA:

Yeah Rev…you’re pronunciation comment is ‘Right on, Brotha’!
With Bush, his continued mispronunciation of Nuclear, shows both Scientific ignorance and…stubborn hubris?
The “eye-rack”, “eye-ran” shtick is common with people whom, I think, have no respect for other languages and cultures.
Maybe non-Americans should start saying things like: “Amorica, Unitted Statts, Unknotted Stitts…President Gorge Bosh…George Tush (Oops…that’s One of MY favs)…
    “What’s that you say?…they have…and are?
Of course we Ameerkatsans never hear it in the media.
    “Yada, yada!…Zama, zama!” ;)
