Some lawmakers and Congressional aides interpreted the House leaders’ insistence as reflection of the new political strength of the anti-abortion movement and of Christian conservatives, who played an important role in re-electing Mr. Bush this month….

At least one Dem isn’t rolling over and pointing their ass up in the air to be mounted: Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) says she’ll use procedural tactics to slow Senate business to a crawl if the language isn’t changed. But given the new Senate Dem leadership, I’m thinking she’s not even going to get the support she needs for an effective filibuster.
