Did God Fuck-Up?

19 May 2004 by Bob

Wow, an article that really makes you think. You know, in that sophism type of way: Was God wrong?

To change the basic building block of society would result in radical changes in every other aspect of our lives. For example, consider the exercise of free speech and the freedom of religion in Canada, where same-sex marriage was legalized in 2003. On April 28, 2004, Bill C-250 passed the Canadian Senate making it a criminal offense to criticize homosexuality. The government has already started banning radio programs containing criticisms of the lifestyle. Depending on how the Canadian courts rule in specific cases, pastors could be thrown in jail by simply preaching sermons against homosexuality.

Gasp! Shit! We can’t have THAT! And check out the actual “data” for the claim that:

Social-science data proves men, women and children are healthier, safer, better educated, more economically sound, more emotionally stable and happier when they live within the bonds of traditional families that include one mother and one father.

Yep, empirical evidence at its best.

Cardboard Picture of Jesus Weeps for Woman’s Grandchild

11 May 2004 by Sharona

In Robstown, TX, a tottering, walker toting grammaw prayed to Jesus to send her grandbaby, who had been born with its internal organs externally, home.

In response to the old woman, a cardboard picture of Jesus began to ooze an oily substance.

“I got to wipe the tears,” Jamie Gonzalez, a visitor to the make-do shirine located in the clearly insane grandmother’s living room, said as she steadied herself on the porch with the walker she needed to enter the home. “It’s just faith.”

The Catholic church neither confirms nor denies the validity of this alleged miracle, but they hedged their bets nicely when Monsignor Richard Shirley, vicar general for the Diocese of Corpus Christi said, “We can’t always rely on the scientific. If it’s God, it will endure.”

Riiiiiiiight. Medical science will have nothing to do with helping the poor baby with its insides, well, out. It’s all the Weeping Cardboard Jesus’ doing …

Why is this shit always going down in Texas? Haven’t we suffered enough with the Shrub?

Nihilism in Action

Kinda dumb, but at least she’s consistent: Nurse who allegedly took instructions from God denied jobless pay

DES MOINES (AP) — A nurse fired for allegedly providing inadequate care for patients because she said God would take care of them has been denied unemployment benefits.[...]

When meeting with her employers to discuss the situation, Tvedt allegedly said she hadn’t followed up on some residents’ health issues because “God would take care of these types of things on their own.”

She was accused of failing to call the physician of one resident who was experiencing chest pains. Her explanation, as quoted by officials at the home, was: “I didn’t need to follow up. God told me she was healed.”

So much for medicine, folks. I mean, if it’s part of the divine plan…

Praise God!

Ah, to be young and totally stupid: Minister gets 20 years in sex case

Stone said he had prayed God would take away his sexual desire for boys.

“This is how (God) has done it,” Stone said. “I don’t understand His ways or His timing, but He has corrected me.”

Rosaphine Stone, who has led the church since her husband’s arrest, said she was shocked to learn the truth but stands behind her husband.

“If God wants to use my husband to do His work in prison for 20 years, then I say ‘praise the Lord.’ There is more to it than what goes on here on Earth.”

Oh, yes, Praise the Lord and His Mysterious Ways!

I guess I don’t know exactly what to say about this one: Tornado ‘03 – A Look Back: God praised in wake of devastation

“I knelt between the futon and the hide-a-bed in the basement and prayed,” she said. “I knew that God loves me and that I love him. God has moved through this whole ordeal. I give God the credit that we came through this all.”

Yes, dysfunctionality is alive and well, and rests in the minds of xians. “Kill my family and destroy everything I own and make me feel pain, pain, PAIN — and I’ll still love you, my lord, and know that you are loving and good.” Don’t fucked-up kids do this with their fucked-up parents who totally fucked them up?

Huh?

Hey, check this out: Judge Won’t Toss Pa. Church Abuse Lawsuit

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – A judge Wednesday rejected a Roman Catholic diocese’s claim that the constitutional separation of church and state bars it from being sued for allegedly failing to stop sexually abusive priests.

The Altoona-Johnstown Diocese had argued that judicial second-guessing of how bishops hire, fire, assign or discipline priests would infringe on the church’s freedom of religion.

Yeah, what a fantastic legal strategy: “Your Honor, if the church wants to hire people who molest kids and not fire them when they’re found out, then that’s our constitutional right through our freedom of religion.”

Fucking Nutjob

4 May 2004 by Bob

Wow, here’s a site for the morons in the audience: BlessedCause.Org. Oh, definitely stay a while and take a look around. There’s plenty to see. My personal favorite (so far), from the “For Women Only” section:

There are times I hate being in this battle over our schools, because I have to confront so many people. This is one of the reasons women (and the Bible confirms it) should not have to be in leadership, it’s not healthy for us. We can’t be the women we were created to be while confronting these issues.

So, let’s all embrace the xian view of women (confirmed by the bible) — and keep all those submissive bitches in the home breastfeeding those kids like they belong. Amen. (Who knew god was such a sexist bastard?)
